Campus 2025 is Wrexham Glyndwr University’s £60m strategy to enhance our local region and all of our campuses to ensure our students have the best facilities and learning environment.
Teaching & Learning spaces
We’ve already completed two modern and welcoming social learning spaces: The Study and The Gallery. Both are colourful, stylish and practical, with great lighting, comfortable seating, air conditioning and plenty of charging sockets.
The Study has several booths with comfortable leather sofas, table, acoustic panels and monitors that students can hook their devices up to in order to work collaboratively on Power Point presentations, videos or other creative projects.
The Gallery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and features a rolling programme of artwork.
Our Student Centred Active Learning Environment (SCALE-UP) room uses cutting-edge technology and design to improve the student experience. The B corridor and its teaching spaces have been refurbished too, with lecture theatres including the latest in audio-visual technology.
The £5m Colliers Park National Football Development Centre will benefit Welsh football both nationally and locally, by delivering accessible, high-class training facilities for young players and the wider football workforce in North Wales.
The new facility includes two top quality grass pitches, a FIFA quality 3G pitch plus off pitch support facilities such as activation areas, learning suites and changing facilities. Wrexham Glyndwr University has a state-of-the-art education facility incorporated for students on the Sports Science and Football Coaching degree programmes to use.
Our Veterinary Nursing clinical suite based at our Northop campus gives our Veterinary Nursing students the opportunity to gain key experience in clinical settings in preparation for their future career.
The longer-term plans include creating a gateway building at the heart of the Plas Coch campus which will become the main entrance to the university and also house the new student union. Better pedestrianisation of the site will also follow, with the reconfiguration of car parking to move vehicles to the back of the campus plus a brand new engineering block and further refurbishment of older buildings on the site.
Our Regent Street campus will undergo a careful refurbishment programme, to protect the listed characteristics of the building and provide brand new workshops and equipment for the practical elements of our arts-based courses.
We have already acquired better student accommodation with the purchase of Wrexham Student Village and have had planning permission approved to build further student accommodation on site as and when required, providing our live-in students with high-quality accommodation and facilities right here on campus.
Our ambition is to be the learning gateway into Wrexham – Wrexham Glyndwr University is one of the first places visitors to Wrexham see and our ambitions are in alignment with the overall vision to transform Wrexham. Campus 2025 will result in a better academic delivery, a sustained and increased student population and will benefit the wider community.
