The painter Maurice Cockrill, previously Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools, London and Honorary Fellow of Glyndŵr University, studied at Wrexham School of Art 1958 – 1960. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, including shows at the Serpentine Gallery, London and Kunstmuesum, Dusseldorf. The exhibition consisted of paintings in oil and acrylic from 2000 2010. He was President of the Royal Cambrian Academy and Professor of Contemporary Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University. He is also an Honorary Member of Royal Watercolour Society and a Guest Professor at the Xi’an Academy of Fine Art Academy. He lives and works in London.

"At first sight Maurice Cockrill’s paintings resemble a kaleidoscope of colours, antic and kinetic. To look again, as good paintings insist, is to be drawn into an evolving parallel world of personal symbols and ideographic representations of the real world."
