Dr Rich Picking: School of Computing and Communications Technology

Research

I have been heavily involved in research activities throughout my career, both in industry working on research development projects, and in academia. I now work as HCI research director of the Centre for Applied Internet Research. My research interests cover human-computer interaction, interaction design, information visualization and e-learning. My doctoral thesis incorporated all of these topic areas, where I developed a pioneering interactive multimedia e-learning tool for Music College students.

I currently supervise a number of research students, as well as research scientists involved with the EU FP6 IST EASY LINE+ project, “Low cost advanced white goods for a longer independent life of elderly people”.
