BA (Hons) Media Communications and Screen Studies

Have you considered how much of what you see of the world today is through a screen? From cinema screens, widescreen TVs and video games to 3G mobile phones and laptops, screens dominate our culture.

The Screen Studies degree takes a closer look at how we interpret - and how we can best understand - such cultures. There’s an almost endless number of different aspects to screen culture.

In our courses you will explore a raft of topics: from traditional approaches of film and media studies to new, cutting-edge research into online identities, computer game technology and the popularity of websites such as YouTube and Facebook.

Assessment and applications

You will be assessed in a wide variety of styles and formats including coursework assignments, unseen examinations, portfolios and journals, case studies, presentations, timed exercises and reports. A dissertation will form one of the final stages of your assessment.

Part time applicants should apply direct 

From 2012 our general academic requirement for an honours degree will be 240 UCAS points, and for a foundation degree 120 UCAS points. If you do not have the points required your application will still be considered. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and with a range of experiences.
