Creative media computing is the cutting edge of creative technologies.
Our courses in creative media computing are designed to give you an insight into creative applications, developing your understanding of visual and audio digital representations, techniques and applications, as well as interactive systems.
These are multi-disciplinary courses covering all aspects of current and emerging multimedia technologies, principles of information design for effective communication and approaches to software development and its management.
It emphasises creative problem solving and project management skills as well as the aesthetic and technical aspects of the medium.

Course content
BSc (Hons) Creative Media Computing
You will learn about the principles of digital media, giving you a grounding to go on and explore design ideas and concepts. You will investigate a wide range of digital media elements and applications including 2D and 3D graphics, animation, human computer interaction, website creation and design, video editing and audio concepts.
You will be able to use a wide variety of digital media software packages and be able to apply these to the production of a range of digital media types. You will also be able integrate these media types to produce sophisticated web sites.
In addition you will develop the skills to manage and produce artefacts within a large project working on your own and within a larger group.

Assessment
Assessment is seen as an integral part of learning, and assessment criteria are linked to individual module learning outcomes. Assessment methods include practical assessments, time-constrained assessments, reports and essays, analysis of case studies, oral presentations, seminar papers, project work, portfolios, work-based assessments, examinations, vivas, and unseen class tests. Assessment will involve both individual and group based assignments.

The general requirement for the honours degree is 240 UCAS points at A level or equivalent. In addition applicants must have five GCSE passes at grades A, B or C including Mathematics and English. See information on general entry requirements.

FdSc Creative Media Computing
The foundation degree course is practical in nature and will provide you with a broad base of skills, theory and underpinning knowledge to design and produce communications content. The course provides an educational foundation for a range of creative, technical and management careers in the creative media industries and focuses closely on the current and future demands and needs of the workplace.
