FdA Business Management with Accounting

In any business an understanding of the organisation’s finances is crucial to decision-making and the future success of the organisation. The study of business accounting not only develops numerical skills, but will teach you how to analyse business accounts and use them to inform decisions and the direction of an organisation. The application of these problem solving skills can be applied to a range of business procedures and practices.

Course content

BA (Hons) Business Accounting

Studying this course you will cover topics which are fundamental to good business practice including marketing, economics, human resource management, finance and accounting. You will also develop your IT and communication skills along with developing an understanding of the business environment, financial accounting, taxation, financial management and reporting, strategic management and international business.

You will have the opportunity to choose options from a range such as leadership, business law, statistical analysis, marketing and a work-based project. You will study an accounting research project in the final year of the degree.

Assessment

Assessment is a combination of assignments and examinations. Assignments include case studies, group presentations, reports, on line discussions, research projects, company reports and analysis.

240 points at A level or equivalent from a minimum of two A levels and GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C or equivalent.

FdA Business Management with Accounting

On this course you will cover the fundamentals of business. You will study topics such as management, accountancy, human resource management, the business environment and marketing, along with financial accounting and business taxation. You will also improve your study and work-based skills.

As you progress on the course you will learn about managing financial information, marketing planning and organisational behaviour as well as completing a work-based project. Upon successful completion of the FdA you may wish to consider topping up to the BA (Hons) Business Accounting. This normally involves joining the final year of the course.
