BA (Hons) Broadcasting, Journalism and Screen Studies

It’s easy to see why there is a pull towards careers in TV, radio, or print and online media. All media is rapidly evolving and invariably no two days are the same. Our Broadcasting and Journalism courses will prepare you for a rewarding life in the media.

We’ll show you how to source and write news reports and features for radio, TV, newspapers, magazines and websites. There’s a strong focus on new media, so producing content videos and audio material for the web are key parts of the course. By the end of your studies you’re sure to have great communication skills too.

If you want to work as a multimedia press journalist, our one year Certificate of Higher Education in Journalism, accredited by the industry body the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), might be just what you’re looking for.

Thanks to a partnership with NWN Media Ltd., it comes with the opportunity to spend two days every week on a leading newspaper title in North Wales or Chester.

Course content

BA (Hons) Broadcasting, Journalism and Media Communications

Media Communications is focused on the history of communication to mass audiences and understanding the theories that link the communication of messages. These topics are well matched to the more practical, hands-on aspects of broadcasting and journalism.

BA (Hons) Broadcasting, Journalism and Screen Studies

21st century life is dominated by what we see through the screen - TVs, cinema screens, laptops, notebooks and video games. Screen Studies combines traditional academic approaches to film and media studies with the very latest research into how we interact online and students are encouraged to engage with a diversity of contemporary screen cultures and technologies.
