Dr Edna Astbury-Ward

Developing research in the field of abortion care.

Dr Edna Astbury-Ward is a Visiting Research Fellow with the Social Inclusion Research Unit and is affiliated to the Centre for Health & Community Research.

She completed her PhD on abortion care in 2010. Her research explored the perceptions of abortion care from the perspectives of both patients and staff. Dr Astbury-Ward has since published on this subject, and has lectured at national and international conferences on the subject of abortion care.

She has considerable experience of working in a health environment. As a Registered General Nurse her areas of specialist practice are within sexual and reproductive health and human sexuality. Her masters degree with merit is in sexual medicine.
