Glyndŵr University, Northop
A beautiful setting for land-based learning
Located in Northop, Flintshire and overlooking the Dee Estuary, the new Glyndŵr University Northop campus is set in the heart of beautiful North Wales countryside.
The Northop campus is a prime example of the University's considered expansion. Based within a rural setting yet conveniently located just off the A55, it is the hub for all the University's land-based educational provision.
The campus has the advantage of being less than 15 miles from both Wrexham and Chester. The historic market town of Mold is just 3 miles away. With room for expansion at the site it will grow to encompass a research centre for biodiversity, rural management and sustainability, and sport and the environment.
Facilities for students and business
There has been a significant investment recently in the buildings and campus which now boasts refurbished student accommodation, lecture rooms, conference facilities, sports hall, workshops and laboratories. Students at Northop have the opportunity to use Deeside College facilities, such as the equine unit and glasshouses at the site.
The estate is being developed to provide a wide range of learning environments and land use facilities for students, including:

Students studying at our Northop campus will have access to Deeside College’s Small Animals Care Centre. The centre houses more than 100 animals, and incorporates 10 different habitats for animals ranging from marmoset monkeys to snakes and scorpions. Its viewing areas are comparable to those available in a commercial zoo, and the centre also includes an aquarium area accommodating fish from all types of water environments, as well as a dog grooming parlour, outside aviaries and kennels
British Horse Society (BHS) Approved
Equine Unit
The BHS Approved Equine Unit and Exam Centre provides students with access to a range of excellent facilities suitable for practical sessions and events. The superb purpose-built facilities at the campus include an indoor arena with viewing gallery (50x30ft), floodlit outdoor arena (60x40ft), stabling, paddocks and two cross-country courses. There are also the facilities for hacking in the grounds.
The BHS Approved Equine Unit hosts a wide range of events throughout the year from competitions and clinics to shows and training events. There are always events taking place and there will be lots of opportunities for those not directly involved to be spectators. If you are a keen equestrian, the unit is a popular venue for clinics and competitions held by associated and external parties, giving students extra opportunities to gain experience in such areas, often with top riders and well renowned trainers and experts.
