Record Success for Glyndŵr University theatre production14 January 2010
Theatre and Performance students at Glyndŵr University are celebrating after attracting a record audience for their annual Christmas-time show with a production of Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers. The students performed to a capacity audience of 170 for each of their five shows at the Catrin Finch Centre, Wrexham, in early December. The production involved more than 50 students from across all three years of Glyndŵr University’s Theatre, TV and Performance degree course. Elen Mai Nefydd, Senior Lecturer in Theatre and Performance, said: “The success was overwhelming really. This was the first time we’d had access to the Catrin Finch Centre for our annual December production and to see it full for every performance was amazing. “It was the first time that we delivered a public performance of a musical so the students deserve tremendous credit. We’re already looking forward to our next production.” Blood Brothers tells the story of the Johnson twins, Micky and Eddie, who are separated at birth and grow up in opposite social backgrounds, crossing paths later in life with tragic consequences. Glyndŵr University’s next production will be held in May at the Catrin Finch Centre. Ends |
