Rise in applications at Glyndŵr University

28 April 2009

Application figures at Glyndŵr University are mirroring the current rise in applications to universities across England & Wales.

In the recent Times Higher Education ranking, the University was placed in the top ten UK institutions for growth, experiencing the highest rise in applications in Wales (23% compared with the previous year).

Graeme Wilkinson, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) at Glyndŵr University, commented: “As one of the UK’s newest universities we have planned for growth, and we have seen rises in our applications across the board.

“Places are still available and the University welcomes applications for courses starting in September 2009.

“Driven by challenging economic conditions people are looking to change career paths or add new & improved skills to enhance their employability.

“We have also noticed a trend in prospective students applying for part-time and vocational courses that can benefit their employability as they seek to improve their skill-sets and future proof their prospects for when the economy starts to improve.

“In offering traditional full and part-time programmes we work very closely with local, national and international businesses in the region to ensure our students are educated with skills and expertise that can directly deliver tangible benefits to the region’s economy.

“We also offer bespoke programmes for the local employers that directly benefit their performance.”
