Learning difficulties animation premiere22 July 2009
A group of people with learning difficulties from Voice Wrexham watched with excitement as their animations were premiered at Glyndŵr University’s Terry Hands Studio. The animations were part of a project called “my life in animation”. The aim of the project was to help the group members explore and reflect on the things that have been important in their life. Each group member was given the opportunity to create an animation that was personal to them and have it shown in front of an audience. Yvonne Eckersley (Glyndŵr University Senior Lecturer in Design Communication) worked with the group to develop their animations as part of her PhD studies. “Animation is more than just cartoons for little children, it is a medium full of endless possibilities that has the ability to communicate messages and emotions in a way no other can” she said. “The project has allowed the group to express things in a way that was personal to them.” The Mayor attended the event to congratulate the group on their efforts and presented each member with a certificate of achievement. |
