Public debate on Labour Mobility in Europe
21 May 2007
With the enlargement of the European Union, North Wales has seen an increase in migrant workers from other European countries. Europe Direct Llangollen is hosting a public debate, at NEWI, which will explore some of the issues relating to migrant workers in the area as well as looking at the opportunities that increased labour mobility offers to those from North Wales interested in moving and working abroad.
The event is free and is open to the public. It offers an opportunity to ask questions about labour mobility, how it affects people in North Wales and to discuss the issues. The debate will cover a range of topics from business opportunities in Europe to migrant work forces in the region.
The audience will be able to put their questions, comments and suggestions to a panel of specialist speakers on subject. The panel will include: Aled Roberts, Leader of Wrexham Council, Ian Lucas MP for Wrexham and Maurice Guyauder a visiting representative from the European Commission who is a specialist in European enlargement.
Before the debate begins there will be an opportunity to view displays and exhibitions from specialist organisations.
The debate will take place on Thursday 31st May 2007 at 5.00 pm in Gallery 103 on NEWI’s Plas Coch Campus. Anyone interested in attending should contact Catherine Mahony, Coordinator of Europe Direct on 01978 861514 or email europedirect@denbighshire.gov.uk to register.
