6 June 2007

NEWI will be opening its doors to potential students this Saturday (9th June). The open day which promises to be interesting as well as informative will give potential students the chance to not only find out more about the courses offered at NEWI but will also feature subject talks and demonstrations.

Demonstrations and interactive workshops are available throughout the day. Areas include a ‘create a remix’ workshop in NEWI’s Sound Recording Studios; finding out about the Internet and how it works in Computing; discovering the technology behind TV images in the Sound Broadcast Engineering Laboratory or having a quick illustrated tour of some of the ways that aliens have visited us in the movies with Media Studies.

There will be a free minibus running every hour to the North Wales School of Art and Design so that budding artists can find out all about the art degrees available and also take the opportunity to see the Final Year Art Exhibition that is currently running at the Regent Street campus.

There will also be subject talks in the areas of Built Environment, Business, Chinese and Complementary Medicine Practice, Criminal Justice, Education and Primary Teaching; Engineering; Humanities; Science; Sport and Exercise Sciences; Nursing and many more.

People will also have the opportunity to have a tour of the campus guided by some of NEWI’s current students and to speak to lecturers about courses. Talks will also be run on applying to university, the financial assistance available and the student support available at NEWI.

The event which is on the Plas Coch Campus, Mold Road, Wrexham between 10am and 3.30pm will offer something for everyone. For a full programme of what is happening on the day see www.newi.ac.uk
