Bringing business training to the doorstep
29 March 2006
In a pioneering new move by the Wrexham Business School (NEWI) staff will be leaving the campus and lecture theatres behind and taking their expertise out into industry. NEWI has always recognised the importance of links with the local business community and is constantly looking for new ways to support local business.
Staff at the Wrexham Business School have been making contact with organisations on Deeside and Wrexham Industrial Estates to find out just what sort of help is really needed by local industry and as a result will be running three training courses aimed specifically at employers and employees based on the Industrial Estates. It is widely recognised that staff are at the core of better business performance so staff training is crucial. The courses will be delivered on site at the two estates to ensure they are as accessible as possible to busy staff.
Thomas Moore of Wrexham Business School said, “We have always offered relevant training for local businesses but often opportunities pass companies by because they can’t find the time to attend. By taking the courses to them we are endeavouring to make our offering to local business as convenient and as relevant as possible.”
Joanne Mandley a spokesperson for UPM Shotton, who are providing dedicated training facilities for the Wrexham Business School to use in Deeside said, “UPM Shotton are happy to be working in partnership with the Wrexham Business School, NEWI. We believe this is a valuable new initiative and are pleased to be involved in supporting the local business community in this way. A number of staff will definitely be making the most of this opportunity and will be attending the courses.”
Essential Employment Law, Excellence in Customer Service and Recruiting People are the three short courses, which will be run during April and May. Any businesses or individuals interested in finding out more should contact Gill Fairclough 01978 293160.
