Glyndŵr University Choir Conductor - Dr Peter Litman
Peter Litman trained as an organ scholar in Canterbury, studying organ with Dr David Flood at Canterbury Cathedral and latterly Neil Wright at Farnborough Abbey in Hampshire.
He furthered his studies in choral direction under Dr Colin Durrant gaining an MA in Choral Education from Roehampton Institute.Following graduation he was invited to become a member of the teaching team at Roehampton and, in 2005, succeeded Dr Durrant as the course director. While course director, Peter had the privilege of working with the BBC Singers and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. He studied orchestral direction as a private student of John Georgiadis, a former pupil of Maestro Sergiu Celibidache. While studying his PhD, in 2008 Peter was invited by the Ministry of Education to design and develop a choral training programme for the Conservatorio de Lima in Peru. He spent a month in Peru working with the National Youth Choirs and Conservatorio, and as a result of his work, received the title Honorary Doctor of Music from the Peruvian Ministry of Education with the permission of the Institute of Education, University of London. He holds both Bachelor and Master degrees in music performance, is a Fellow of the London College of Music and an Associate of the Higher Education Academy of Great Britain. Outside the university, Peter is organist and choirmaster at St Peter's Collegiate Church, Ruthin where he directs a large choir of children and adults, and serves as an LEA-appointed governor at Rhos Street Primary School, Ruthin. |
