Glyndŵr University is committed to improving the sustainability of the campus and its services.

This can be done by both small steps and larger-scale initiatives.

Examples of the progress Glyndŵr University has made towards reducing its carbon footprint include:

  • Installation of an eco-friendly heating and hot water boiler system
  • Double glazed windows throughout
  • Water-efficient push taps and water-free urinals
  • Day and night lighting on the corridors
  • Landscaping and planting indigenous plants to increase the biodiversity of the estate
  • Cardboard recycling facilities
  • Facilities for metal segregation and a skip for metal recycling
  • Provision for correct disposal of electrical items
  • Procedures in place for recycling and reusing office furniture within the University
  • Installation of paper recycling facilities across the campus
  • Provision of a recycling station at the Student Village, which means that our residential students have a means to recycle their household waste
  • Energy metering across the campus; we use the statistics to pinpoint areas where we could save energy

Glyndŵr University has also received an award from the British Astronomy Society for the fitting of new specialised outside lamps which shine downwards, thus reducing light pollution.
