Athro ym maes Iechyd Meddwl, Prifysgol Glyndŵr Mae Rob Poole yn seiciatrydd cymdeithasol a fu’n ymgynghorydd GIG am 28 mlynedd cyn ymgymryd â swydd academaidd yn 2009. Hyfforddodd yn Ysbyty St George, Llundain ac yn Rhydychen. Rhwng 1988 a 2004 bu’n gweithio mewn ardal ddifreintiedig o ganol Lerpwl. Bu’n ymwneud llawer â datblygu gwasanaethau fel y Tîm Cydgysylltu Cyfiawnder Cymdeithasol a’r Tîm Allanol i’r Digartref. Yn 2004 fe symudodd i swydd glinigol yn y wlad yn Ngogledd Ddwyrain Cymru. Mae ei rôl glinigol bresennol mewn seiciatreg cydgysylltu. Mae ei ddiddordebau ymchwil yn cynnwys camddefnyddio sylweddau (yn enwedig alcohol a’r berthynas rhwng camddefnyddio sylweddau a salwch meddwl), gofalu am bobl gyda salwch meddwl anhydrin, ymarfer rhagnodi mewn seiciatreg, natur y berthynas rhwng anghydraddoldeb cymdeithasol a salwch meddwl dwys, a’r berthynas rhwng salwch meddwl a chreadigrwydd. Mae ganddo gydweithrediad ymchwil cryf gyda Dr Catherine Robinson, sy’n wyddonydd cymdeithasol ym Mhrifysgol Bangor. Arweiniodd hyn at ffurfio’r Ganolfan Iechyd Meddwl a Chymdeithas o fewn Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr (BIPBC). Gyda Robert Higgo, mae’n gyd-awdur dwy gyfrol sydd wedi cael cydnabyddiaeth genedlaethol a rhyngwladol.
