“Student sport isn’t all about the team sports with four Glyndŵr students competing in individual sports for the University.

Marc Brown , a  3rd year in Business Management with marketing and a Glyndŵr University Sports Bursary student recently travelled to Somerset to compete in the BUCS Individual Stroke Play qualifier along with another 98 competitors from Universities around Great Britain.  Marc finished a respectable 42 out of 98 competitors and is now waiting to see if he gets to play in the next qualifier round in Lancashire later this month.

This weekend is the annual BUCS Championships in Sheffield and Glyndŵr has two of it’s sports awards students travelling to compete in the games.

Ross Jones (pictured), who received a sports bursary and is a architectural and design technology student will be competing in the snooker competition on Friday and Saturday in the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

Colin Le Maitre – sports scholarship awardee and forensic science student will be taking part in the karate competition at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Saturday.

Simon Hodgson, a research student in the Centre for Solar Energy Research competed in the Welsh Universities Fencing Tournament last weekend and finished ninth in the foil and 2nd in the Sabre - well done Simon! For the full results : http://www.cardiffunifencing.co.uk/content/view/108/1/)

This weeks BUCS fixtures saw Rugby Union travel to University of Chester Warrington but unfortunately came away empty handed after losing 12:29. 

The top of the table clash in football saw Glyndŵr travel to Manchester Met and come away with the three points after a 4:1 victory. Glyndŵr are now top of the table 5 points ahead with one game remaining although Man Met do still have a game in hand.

Mens Football v University of Chester 4th -  2pm kick off - Campus Pitch
Netball v University of Chester 2nd - 1.15pm start - Sports Centre
Rugby Union v University of Central Lancashire 2nd - 2pm kick off - Wrexham Rugby Club
