Declaring additional needs; specific learning differences & disability support

Declaring your Disability

At university level, much of the focus of support is on the individual student. Funding is focused on the individual, support services are delivered individually and each student has an equal part in the responsibility for ensuring that things happen.

Specific Learning Differences and Disability Support

We would ask that you tell us if you have individual needs or requirements.

You can let us know by completing this form. You can do this before arriving at Glyndŵr, or at enrolment or at any time that you become aware of a disability. These forms are sent to you or you can get one whilst enrolling, or any time after up in Student Services from The DisAbility Team.

The codes on the form are the same as the UCAS codes:

0 No disability

1 Dyslexia

2 Blind or partially sighted

3 Deaf or partially deaf

4 A wheelchair user or having mobility/ dexterity problems

T Autistic Spectrum Disorder / Aspergers Syndrome

6 Mental health difficulties

7 Unseen disabilities e.g.Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy

8 Multiple Disabilities

9 A disability not listed above

When you are offered a place and when you accept it, the situation needs to be clear so that both the University and you the student know what is and what isn’t expected.

If you are offered a place and your disability is known, then Glyndŵr has agreed to enable you to be as fully participating a student as possible and to ensure that your academic needs will be met. You the student will have agreed to undertake the programme knowing what is on offer and what can and can’t be done.

If you acquire a disability, or become aware of it whilst already on a programme, be sure to let us know so that we can help you successfully continue and complete your studies, if that is what you choose.

If you wish to discuss any issues relating to learning support, informally and in confidence, please get in touch with The DisAbility Team.
